PVC Strip

9 Benefits of Installing PVC Warehouse Curtains

PVC strip curtains are a type of door system in which plastic curtain strips are put over a door opening. They are quite versatile and can be employed in a variety of work environments, such as warehouses, restaurants, factories, food storage rooms, auto body shops, and many others.

Warehouse strip curtains are made of flexible industrial plastic that can be used as a secondary barrier, a room divider, or a standalone door. They are a quick and long-lasting method to divide areas. After the PVC curtains have been set up, they do not require frequent opening and closing.

So, why are PVC warehouses recommended? Read on to learn more.

Advantages of Using PVC Strip Curtains in Warehouses

These are some of the many benefits of using warehouse strip curtains in warehouses:

Creates a Doorway

This is one of the main benefits of PVC strip curtains. This can be done by simply hanging the curtain between the two areas of a warehouse and leaving a clear entry point. This will make passage faster and easier as the curtain is clear enough to be seen through.

Furthermore, it reduces the risk of accidents because it requires that vehicles go at a reduced speed while entering other areas. The forklift driver will crawl under the PVC curtain rather than speeding through it and cause an accident.

Flexibility

This is undoubtedly the most significant factor in why strip curtains are the go-to option for warehousing. Just as they can be easily installed, they can also be easily taken down when they are no longer needed. This is a benefit of PVC strip curtains over traditional wall construction. Can walls be easily removed like that? No.

Cost-Effective

PVC curtains are inexpensive. Installation and maintenance cost way less and provide far more benefits than other door options. Aside from being cost-effective, PVC curtains are also the most effective technique to reduce energy loss in warehouses. Because different goods in storage rooms demand different temperatures, the temperature can be reduced or increased and also prevent air loss through leakage.

Can Be Used to Separate Paths

Warehouses are often filled with workers refilling shelves, processing orders, and packing them. A place like this is prone to accidents. PVC wall curtains can be used to partition paths and prevent accidents. Workers will be able to move more freely.

They can simply pass one side while vehicles drive on the other. Common accidents, such as a vehicle colliding with a wall and causing damage, can be completely avoided. Its transparency also allows people to see who is approaching from the opposite side of the wall, forcing them to wait, rather than colliding with them.

Blocks Noises

Warehouses are typically noisy areas. The sound of conveyor belts, crane noise, pallet jacks, and moving forklift trucks can be overwhelming. Aside from that, warehouses are generally poorly insulated, and the concrete block walls and flooring merely allow sound to bounce and echo, thereby, amplifying the noise. Prolonged exposure to these noises may cause tinnitus (constant ringing in the ears) in workers.

Noise also makes it difficult for workers to hear alarms and alerts from their supervisors or among themselves.

This is where PVC strip curtains comes into play. They function as both a sound absorber and a noise insulator. Since the curtains divide the walkway, they will prevent the loud noise and fumes from seeping into the areas where people are walking.

Can Control Temperature

Warehouses normally require temperature regulation. PVC warehouse curtains are made of PVC, which prevents heat from entering an area where it is not wanted. The temperature in a freezer room, for example, will be completely locked in so that it does not escape into other areas of the warehouse, therefore they serve as an additional layer of insulation.

Environmental Control

PVC warehouse curtains protect the warehouse from various environmental elements. Aside from reducing noise, dirt, fumes, dust, and extreme weather, they also aid in the prevention of pest and insect infestations. This is due to the fact that their weight prevents any openings that can allow pests to enter.

Limits Pollution and Mess

PVC warehouse curtains are an excellent way to reduce pollution and mess in a warehouse. Because they are used to partition sections, regions designated for activities that can cause the entire warehouse to become untidy can be easily separated from others. Other areas of the warehouse can thus be kept clean and dirt-free.

Can Be Used to Contain Visibility to Specific Areas

Warehouses are workspaces, no doubt. But workers aren’t the only ones present in a warehouse. Visitors sometimes come around.

Workers receive health and safety training, so they are more likely to notice danger zones around the site, visitors do not, which makes them vulnerable. If the warehouse is not well partitioned, they are prone to slips, falls, and other minor accidents.

PVC warehouse curtains can help protect visitors from dangerous zones or keep them from seeing areas that should be hidden away from them.

How to Install PVC Curtains in a Warehouse

After considering all the factors before choosing a strip curtain for your warehouse, the next step is to ensure that it is properly installed.

1. Lay the PVC strip on a flat surface. Check that the doorway measurements match the information on the packing note.
2. If there are more than one piece of track, use track joiners to attach them and fit hanging brackets to the top groove of the track in the same places.
3. Drill the lintel and install the track, making sure it is horizontal.
4. Attach each PVC strip to the track, beginning with one of the colourful edge markers, by inserting the clamp bolts into the track and then tightening the nuts on the strip and clamp.
5. Make sure that each strip is hanging so that the part marked “F” is facing out. This ensures that the finished curtain is visible.
6. Change the position of the strips so that the overlap is equal across the width of the curtain.
7. When all the strips are in place, leave at least 10 mm between the floor and the bottom of the PVC.
8. Use a sharp knife and a cutting board to trim as required.

Note: Before leaving the site, double-check that all of the strips are properly hung and clear of obstructions.
